Size G 4.00 mm Hook or any size to obtain gauge.
Lightweight Size 3 Yarn.

Abbreviations:
Ch- Chain
Sk- Skip
SLST- Slip Stitch
DC- Double Crochet
RS- Right Side
WS- Wrong Side
FDC- Foundation Double Crochet
SC- Single Crochet
HDC- Half Double Crochet

Gauge:
16 HDC= 4 inches. Height is unimportant

Pattern Notes:

  1. This pattern is written from the top-down.

  4. I highly recommend counting the stitches in each row until you get use to the stitch placement.
  5. This pattern is written in Toddler, Child, Teen/Adult

Pattern:

 Toddler

Mitten Top

To Start: Work 5 Scs in a Magic Circle. SLST to join and Ch1.    (5)

Round 1: 2 SC in each stitch around. Slst to join and Ch 1.    (10)

Round 2: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next stitch. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next stitch.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join and Ch1.    (15)

Round 3: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 2 stitches. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next 2 stitches.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join and Ch1.   (20)

Round 4: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 3 stitches. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join,  Ch1 and TURN.    (25)

Round 5: SLST in the first stitch. *DC in the next stitch, SLST in the next.* Repeat ** around. The row should end with a SLST.  SLST to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (25)

Round 6: HDC in each stitch around. Join with a SLST, Ch1 and TURN.   (25)

Round 7: Repeat Round 5.    (25)

Repeat Rounds 6 and 7 until the mitten measures 3  inches. From the tip to the last row. Be sure to end with Round 7.

For Right Mitten

Round 8: HDC in the first 2 stitches. Loosely Ch 3, Skip 3, HDC in the next. HDC in the rest of the stitches around. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (22 HDC and 3 Chains)

For Left Mitten

Round 8: HDC in the first 20 stitches. Loosely Ch 3, Skip 3, HDC in the next. HDC in the rest of the stitches around. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (22 HDC and 3 Chains)

Both Continue here

Round 9:  SLST in the first stitch. *DC in the next stitch, SLST in the next.* Repeat ** around (in all the stitches and chains.). Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (25)

Round 10: HDC in the first 3 stitches. *HDC2tog, HDC in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat ** around until you have 5 unworked stitches. HDC in the next stitch, (HDC2tog)x2 in the last four. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN     (19)

Round 11: Repeat Round 9.    (19)

Round 12: HDC in the first 2 stitches. *HDC2tog, HDC in the next 2 stitches.* Repeat ** around until you have 3 unworked stitches. HDC in the next stitch remaining stitch. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.     (15)

Round 13: Repeat Round 9.      (15)

Round 14: Repeat Round 6. DO NOT TURN AFTER THIS ROUND     (15)

Cuff

To start: While remaining attached to the mitten, Ch 5

C Row 1: SC in the second Ch from the hook and each Ch across. Slst to the same stitch as the joined yarn. SC2tog over the next 2 stitches along the main mitten portion. TURN.  (4 SC and 1 SC2tog)

C Row 2: Sk over the SC2tog, SC in the BLO of each stitch across. Ch1 and turn. (4 SC)

C Row 3: SC in the BLO of each of the 6 stitches. SC2tog over the next 2 stitches along the main glove portion. TURN. (4 SC and 1 SC2tog)

Repeat C Rows 2 and 3 until all the stitches along the main glove portion have been worked into.

Hold the first cuff row and last cuff row together and Slst along stitches to close up the cuff.

Finish off. Weave in ends.

Thumb

In the hole left for the thumb, attach yarn and Ch1.

T Round 1: Evenly work 11 HDC around the opening. Slst to join and Ch1.   (11)

T Round 2: SC2tog, SC in the next 7 stitches, SC2tog. Slst to join and Ch1.   (9)

T Round 3: HDC in each stitch around. Slst to join and Ch1.    (9)

Repeat Round 3 until the thumb measures 1.5 inches.

T Round 4: SC2tog in the first 8 stitches. SC in the last stitch. Slst to join.   (5)

Finish off. Leave a tail. Weave tail in and out of the remaining 5 stitches. Pull tight to close the hole. Make a knot to secure the thumb portion. Weave in ends.

Child

Mitten Top

To Start: Work 5 Scs in a Magic Circle. SLST to join and Ch1.    (5)

Round 1: 2 SC in each stitch around. Slst to join and Ch 1.    (10)

Round 2: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next stitch. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next stitch.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join and Ch1.    (15)

Round 3: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 2 stitches. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next 2 stitches.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join and Ch1.   (20)

Round 4: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 3 stitches. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join and Ch1.    (25)

Round 5: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 4 stitches. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next 4 stitches.* Repeat ** around until you have 4 stitches remaining. SC in the first 2 stitches, SC2tog. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.     (29)

Round 6: SLST in the first stitch. *DC in the next stitch, SLST in the next.* Repeat ** around. The row should end with a SLST.  SLST to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (29)

Round 7: HDC in each stitch around. Join with a SLST, Ch1 and TURN.   (29)

Round 8: Repeat Round 6.    (29)

Repeat Rounds 7 and 8 until the mitten measures 4 inches. From the tip to the last row. Be sure to end with Round 8.​

For Right Mitten

Round 9: HDC in the first 2 stitches. Loosely Ch 4, Skip 4, HDC in the next. HDC in the rest of the stitches around. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (25 HDC and 4 Chains)

For Left Mitten

Round 9: HDC in the first 23 stitches. Loosely Ch 4, Skip 4, HDC in the next. HDC in the rest of the stitches around. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (25 HDC and 4 Chains)

Both Continue here

Round 10:  SLST in the first stitch. *DC in the next stitch, SLST in the next.* Repeat ** around (in all the stitches and chains.). Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (29)

Round 11: HDC in the first 4 stitches. *HDC2tog, HDC in the next 4 stitches.* Repeat ** around until you have 5 unworked stitches. HDC in the next  stitch, (HDC2tog)x2 in the last four. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN     (23)

Round 12: Repeat Round 10.    (23)

Round 13: HDC in the first 3 stitches. *HDC2tog, HDC in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat ** around until you have 3 unworked stitches. HDC in the remaining stitches. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.     (19)

Cuff

To start: While remaining attached to the mitten, Ch 6

C Row 1: SC in the second Ch from the hook and each Ch across. Slst to the same stitch as the joined yarn. SC2tog over the next 2 stitches along the main glove portion. TURN.  (5 SC and 1 SC2tog)

C Row 2: Sk over the SC2tog, SC in the BLO of each stitch across. Ch1 and turn. (5 SC)

C Row 3: SC in the BLO of each of the 6 stitches. SC2tog over the next 2 stitches along the main glove portion. TURN. (5 SC and 1 SC2tog)

Repeat C Rows 2 and 3 until all the stitches along the main glove portion have been worked into.

Hold the first cuff row and last cuff row together and Slst along stitches to close up the cuff.

Finish off. Weave in ends.

Thumb

In the hole left for the thumb, attach yarn and Ch1.

T Round 1: Evenly work 12 HDC around the opening. Slst to join and Ch1.   (12)

T Round 2: SC2tog, SC in the next 8 stitches, SC2tog. Slst to join and Ch1.   (10)

T Round 3: HDC in each stitch around. Slst to join and Ch1.    (10)

Repeat Round 3 until the thumb measures 2 inches.

T Round 4: SC2tog in each stitch around. Slst to join.   (5)

Finish off. Leave a tail. Weave tail in and out of the remaining 5 stitches. Pull tight to close the hole. Make a knot to secure the thumb portion. Weave in ends.

Teen/Adult

Mitten Top

To Start: Work 5 Scs in a Magic Circle. SLST to join and Ch1.    (5)

Round 1: 2 SC in each stitch around. Slst to join and Ch 1.    (10)

Round 2: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next stitch. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next stitch.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join and Ch1.    (15)

Round 3: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 2 stitches. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next 2 stitches.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join and Ch1.   (20)

Round 4: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 3 stitches. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join and Ch1.    (25)

Round 5: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 4 stitches. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next 4 stitches.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join and Ch1.     (30)

Round 6: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 5 stitches. *2 SC in the next stitch, 1 SC in the next 5 stitches.* Repeat ** around. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.     (35)

Round 7: SLST in the first stitch. *DC in the next stitch, SLST in the next.* Repeat ** around. The row should end with a SLST.  SLST to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (35)

Round 8: HDC in each stitch around. Join with a SLST, Ch1 and TURN.   (35)

Round 9: Repeat Round 7.    (35)

Repeat Rounds 8 and 9 until the mitten measures 4.75 inches. From the tip to the last row. Be sure to end with Round 9.

For Right Mitten

Round 10: HDC in the first 2 stitches. Loosely Ch 5, Skip 5, HDC in the next. HDC in the rest of the stitches around. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (30 HDC and 5 Chains)

For Left Mitten

Round 10: HDC in the first 28 stitches. Loosely Ch 5, Skip 5, HDC in the next. HDC in the rest of the stitches around. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (30 HDC and 5 Chains)

Both Continue here

Round 11:  SLST in the first stitch. *DC in the next stitch, SLST in the next.* Repeat ** around (in all the stitches and chains.). Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN.   (35)

Round 12: HDC in the first 5 stitches. *HDC2tog, HDC in the next 5 stitches.* Repeat ** around until you have 5 unworked stitches. HDC in the next  stitch, (HDC2tog)x2 in the last four. Slst to join, Ch1 and TURN     (29)

Thumb

Repeat Round 3 until the thumb measures 2.5 inches.

T Round 4: SC2tog in the first 10 stitches. SC in the last stitch. Slst to join.   (6)

Finish off. Leave a tail. Weave tail in and out of the remaining 7 stitches. Pull tight to close the hole. Make a knot to secure the thumb portion. Weave in ends.
